HISTORY
Shortly after World War II, John W. Shaffer started his construction career in Columbus as a union carpenter. He soon identified a need for a quality acoustical contractor and formed The Columbus Acoustical Company with a partner. In 1974, John Shaffer and his son, William, created Wm. J. Shaffer Assoc., Inc. Now “Shaffer Construction,” we’re proud to report that we’ve completed thousands of successful projects—large and small.
- TEAM
-
Bill Shaffer, CEO
Graduating in 1974 from Franklin University with a degree in Business Administration, Bill purchased half of our company, then named The Columbus Acoustical Company, from his father John W. Shaffer. John & Bill incorporated as Wm. J. Shaffer Assoc., Inc. in 1974 and began their service to the Central Ohio construction market. Since then Bill has worked in every discipline of the company, ultimately becoming President, the title he still holds today. The company continues to thrive nearly four decades later under his leadership. Today Bill's focus is the business side of the company, marketing of the firm, and protecting and preserving our business relationships. -
Greg Callaghan, President
In 1986, Greg Callaghan worked for Shaffer in a field position during school breaks. By 1988, he’d accepted a position working full-time as an estimator. While working on his degree from The Ohio State University at night, Greg learned the ropes of the construction industry from the inside out. He soon became the general trades contractor for all of The Cooker Restaurants throughout Central Ohio and many more hospitality and food-based construction projects. He’s overseen the construction, expansion, and continual successes of many of the Cameron Mitchell Restaurants and the Hyde Park Restaurant Group, The Rusty Bucket Corner Tavern, and others. Greg was named President in 2013. -
Bob Steele, Vice President
Bob started in construction in 1993 working for his father’s concrete company in Cleveland. He started as a laborer and worked his way up to foreman before leaving the family business to work at Shaffer in 2000. Bob began his career with Shaffer working in the field. Upon graduation from Ohio University, with a degree in finance, Bob began working in the office as an estimator. His first hand knowledge of construction as well as his experience remodeling homes allows him to bring an unique understanding to each project he takes on. In 2007, he was promoted to Project Manager, concentrating his efforts on the retail, office, and banking sectors of construction.
